Hospitals in Exeter And Dover Are Seeking Affiliation With Boston’s Mass General

A public hearing has been scheduled for two seacoast-area New Hampshire hospitals seeking approval to affiliate themselves with Massachusetts General Hospital.

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover and Exeter Health Resources, which includes Exeter Hospital, announced an agreement earlier this year to create a new, not-for-profit organization that will serve as their parent company and will be part of the Mass General family.

The agreement is subject to state and federal regulator review.

The public hearing is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 9, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Exeter High School.

Hospital officials say the affiliation will expand access to services that they could not provide as stand-alone organizations.
